Some seasons of life are loud, busy, and wonderfully full — and the Brooks family is living right in the heart of one.

Lauren and Matt met me at the Lagoon at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids, MI for a Mini Session with Colson (2 years), Layne (2 months), and Bowen (their family dog). Lauren described this stage perfectly: “loving, loud, and busy…embracing the chaos and enjoying the simple moments as we know this time they are little isn’t forever.” And that’s exactly what we did.

Instead of chasing perfectly posed portraits, we leaned into connection — quick cuddles, toddler giggles, and the natural rhythm of life with little ones. Colson kept us smiling with frequent showings of his toy Rubble between shots. Those tiny, ordinary details are the ones that matter most.

And Layne? She gifted us a few sweet smiles that absolutely lit up the world. Calm in her parents’ arms, she was the perfect reminder of how tender this season truly is.

It wasn’t quiet or perfectly still — it was real, joy-filled, and beautifully chaotic. Brooks family, thank you for trusting me to capture this fleeting chapter.
