When I met Hannah, Josh, and their 15-month-old daughter, Nora for their family session at Waterfront Park in Grand Rapids, MI, I knew we were in for something special. What most people might see as a scraggly little patch of wildflowers beside the trail… I saw as a golden, glowy, fairy-like backdrop that was bursting with magic. And that’s exactly what we captured!
At just 15 months old, Nora brought pure, unfiltered joy to the session. Her sweet expressions, curious spirit, and whimsical energy elevated the entire gallery. Children just see the world differently — and Nora’s view reminded me why I love being a West Michigan family photographer.
Of course, some littles don’t always last long during a family session, and that’s perfectly okay! We had about 20 minutes before Nora lost interest, but that was all the time I needed to deliver a full, diverse gallery of over 50 images for her parents, grandparents and extended family to choose their favorite images from.
What started as a simple wildflower patch became the backdrop for timeless family portraits for the Bachert Family. This session is proof that you don’t need an elaborate setup or hours of posing to capture memories worth holding onto. With the right light, a playful approach, and trust in me as your West Michigan family photographer, even the smallest details can feel extraordinary.
