Every family has a story worth preserving. That belief is at the heart of Heirloom Story Co. — and it’s also deeply rooted in my personal story. The company name stems from two very special influences in my life: my Papa and my soul dog, Sven. Both shaped not only who I am, but also the vision and purpose of this business.

While I didn’t include images of my Papa and me in this post, his memory is woven into everything I do. He taught me to love unconditionally, to find joy in the simple things, and to notice the beauty in nature around us. Even though he’s no longer physically here, I carry his lessons and love with me — along with the photographs and memories that allow me relive our time together.

This is why I believe so strongly in the power of preserving legacies through timeless photography. Just as my Papa’s memory anchors me when life feels heavy, I want the families I photograph to share the same comfort — to be able to reflect, feel the love, and remember the light.

Prior to photography families, there was Sven. He was my “soul” dog — the companion I brought home in my mid 20s who stood by me as I grew into the woman I am today.

He grounded me when I needed it most, healed my heart when it was broken, and showed me what it meant to be truly loved. In just four short years, Sven left an imprint that could never be replaced or erased. His heart — both figuratively and literally — was too big, and though his sudden passing left me shattered, I will always feel honored to have been his person.

It feels only right that Sven holds a central place in this brand. He nurtured my love for photography, inspired the values that serve as the foundation of this business, and continues to remind me why preserving life’s fleeting chapters is so important.

Why “Heirloom Story Co.” ?

Both my Papa and Sven embodied love, joy, and comfort. Their stories — and the memories I carry of them — are treasured heirlooms in my life. That’s what inspired the name: Heirloom Story Co.

Every family’s story deserves to be preserved. The tears, the laughter, the little quirks of childhood, and the moments of connection that might otherwise slip by. My vision is to help families hold onto these memories through images that feel timeless — that will be cherished for generations to come.

This season also marks the beginning of a new chapter for my business. Stay tuned for a rebrand that reflects these roots even more deeply, honoring where we’ve come from and where we’re headed.
