There is something especially sweet about photographing the very beginning of a family’s story.
When Julia and Ryan Delamar reached out to share that they were expecting their first baby, I knew this session would hold a different kind of magic. The quiet anticipation. The steady joy. The feeling that life is about to change forever — in the very best way.
We chose Grand River Riverfront Park in Lowell, Michigan for their session, and it could not have been a more perfect setting. Early fall had just begun to settle in — soft golden light filtering through the trees, hints of warmth in the leaves, and that peaceful stillness that feels like a deep breath before a new season begins. It mirrored exactly where Julia and Ryan are in life right now: standing on the edge of something beautiful.
From the moment we started, there was an ease between them. The way Ryan instinctively reached for Julia’s hand. The quiet smiles exchanged when they talked about “when baby gets here.” The laughter when we imagined who the little one might look like. These weren’t just photographs — they were glimpses into the foundation they’re already building as parents.
Pregnancy announcements are about more than sharing news. They’re about honoring the season before everything shifts. The stillness before sleepless nights. The closeness before tiny hands fill theirs. This chapter is fleeting, and preserving it matters.
If you’re expecting and dreaming of documenting this season in a heartfelt, natural way, I would love to help you tell your story.
